We started daylight savings time to save energy, but it's just not working. The only studies that have been done in relation to the energy savings were done back in the 70's and were limited in scope(read: they're not accurate!). Ok, I do like having that hour of extra daylight in the evenings during the summer. Can't we just stay on that time year round? Isn't it funny that "standard" time is only observed for 5 months out of the year(soon to be changing to 4)? Shouldn't we call it "daylight losing time" in the winter and standard time in the summer?
Can you tell I'm sleep deprived? Whitney has been waking up between 5:10 and 5:45 every morning this week. Thus, the DST rant. I put her to bed at the same time every night and even have dark-colored curtains in her room, but there's no fooling her. Darn.
Speaking of Whit, I tried a cool new way to do her hair:
They are one of my new favorite healthy treats.
You just pop them in the microwave for a couple of minutes
and voila--a tasty good-for-you snack. Sometimes when we
go eat lunch with Brandon (at 10:45!), I'll need something
in the afternoon before dinner. This is perfect.
So is Halloween candy. :)

I completely agree with you on Daylight Savings Time! Especially now that I have a baby! He used to go to bed at 8:30 and sleep until 7:00, maybe 7:30. Now he goes to bed at 8:30 and sleeps until 6:00 or 6:30. AHH!! Whoever started that obviously didn't have children on schedules. Tomorrow when I'm up at 6, I'll think of you and be glad it's not 5. That's way too early.
Speaking of time --
can anyone name a town in a state
on the Atlantic coast that has the same time of day as a town in a state on the Pacific coast? True.
Can you figure out how it works?
Andrea - I've always said that if someone ran for office solely on the platform of doing away with daylight savings time, I'd vote for them! Hey, maybe you.......?

P.S. - Loved your healthy snacks. I watched the Oprah on healthy eating and so today had oatmeal for breakfast and steamed asparagus for lunch, but was very hungry around dinner time. Linda Norman and I took Nancy Hancock out for her 60th birthday and I ate like a horse!
I guess I'm the oddball b/c I like daylight savings time.
I get up really early and I don't like it to be dark all morning.
By the way: four days post-Halloween the only person in my house who can't seem to control his/her candy intake is me. Boo.
quizmaster,
Does it have anything to do with Alaska???
I like the extra hour of sleep we pretend we get in the fall with DST, but I would be fine without it -- I don't like that it is changing when we have it, though. Didn't it always used to be with conference weekend? Or is that in the spring? I like your vegie snack idea - I may have to go get me some of those! MUCH better than Halloween candy!
