HIGHLIGHTS
*Fun activities with Grandma in the van
We went down in our clothes just to walk along the shore.
*Digging for fossils
I think Andrew was the only one who
found shark teeth.
(BTW--My camera lens did NOT like that
salty sea air. Sorry for the foggy pics.)

*Saw tons of birds and airplanes--
two of Caroline's very favorite things
She makes this sign whenever
she hears a plane.

*Jockey's Ridge
I think this was my favorite part.
After church on Sunday, we had a
picnic lunch and then walked out to
the sand dunes. It was heavenly.
The sand was so fine and powdery.
Felt wonderful between my toes.

It's a popular hang-gliding spot.
(That's just a stranger, but watching him did
make me think about trying it sometime.)
Instead we flew kites.

Brandon found that the store-bought
kind work much better than the one he made.
He got all the way to the end of his string.

It was a great place to play catch with a football.
DOWNSIDES
*There is very little beach to speak of.
It is a short distance from water to sea grass.
*Andrew and B got caught in a rip current.
It was scary.
Thank goodness Andrew is so tall.
Even though they were pretty far out,
he was able to touch the bottom and bring
them back in to shore.

Hopefully next summer she'll enjoy the beach more.
And, thankfully, she took some great naps while we played.
Although we had a great trip and I'm so glad we went, we all decided we'd rather go back to our usual Carolina/Kure Beaches in the future. Shorter drive, more beach, smaller waves.

looks like you had a fun trip. Love the buried kids pics.
What a fun trip. I love the beach. Hopefully next year Caroline will like it better.
Thanks for the tour and the pics.
Wish you had buried Grandma in the sand. We did once.

I've been waiting excitedly to see how my vacation looks - and it looks fabulous! You take the best picture Andi - and you take the best pictures! Love the one of Caroline making her "sign" for the airplane - and thanks for getting everything captured so well! I keep thinking of how cute Caroline was with her little brown cloth baby doll when she would put it down on a changing pad and go get diapers and wipes and very efficiently take care of her! We had such a wonderful time and we MISS YOU!
Love,
Grandma Sweat
What a fun trip! I love, love, love the beach in NC! I wish we could have been there. Maybe someday??
Ang--next summer?
I agree w/ Grandma Sweat - you take great pictures, and love the captions! Looks like you had such an awesome trip. I can't wait til my nephew is old enough to enjoy family vacations! : )
Hmmm...next summer...that would be fun....
It's great to see the pictures Mom told me all about. It sounded and looked like a lot of fun.
How fun! I want to go to there someday!
Your family is so darn cute!
Do not drown in rip tides! How horrifying to read about! Save precious lives of precious family! The pictures are fabulous, Andi. And you are a raving beauty mommy, you know. It's just so weird to see Dashiel Hammett charging through the waves in the Atlantic ocean. How did this happen? Last I checked he was 4 and living in West Valley...
Wait, next summer? How about next week. In fact, let's just move to the beach. I could be a surf instructor and you could sell vaccuums door-to-door. We could make it work, right?
