In 1994, there was Junior Prom.
Love that hot pink dress.
(It was on sale.)
In 1995, there was Senior Prom.
My date was taller than me.
Even in heels.
In 2010, there was Mom Prom.
And it rocked.
Our friends, Jamie and Gordon put together this fabulous date night and I'm SOOOO glad they invited us. Eight couples came. We played the most hilarious get-to-know-you game at the beginning. I haven't laughed that hard since I first watched Brian Regan.
Then we ate a yummy potluck dinner
at tables with linens, china, goblets, and name cards.
I felt sophisticated.
And then...the dancing began.
When we were getting ready at home,
Andrew told me, "You know I don't fast dance."
Andrew told me, "You know I don't fast dance."
But when the evening started out with two brothers having a dance-off with everything from Russian folk dancing moves to arabesques,
he changed his mind.
he changed his mind.
It. was. awesome.
We did the electric slide, the rumba, a little bit of country swing.
Phew. It was a workout.
And, of course, there was an abundance of slow songs.
Andrew kept me entertained.
We realized that we each have a "dance face"
when we're trying to just wing it on a fast dance.
I get this cheezy smile with raised eyebrows
and flail my elbows about.
Andrew kinda bites his lower lip.
It's cute.
Thanks to Jamie and Gordon for the most fun and memorable date night we've had in a long time. Let's do it again sometime.

Boy, you easterners do things up really top notch. Who needs Gold and Green Balls?
Loved seeing those old prom pics! Too funny! We have to do this in our ward sometime.
What a fun idea! I am going to suggest this maybe...or maybe not, they'll just put me in charge of it...but then again that might be worth it.
Love the dance face pictures! ha ha!
How fun! And awesome dancing faces. Andrew's especially reminds me of Bill Clinton. I'm sure he's thrilled to hear that. :-)
Whoopsie! Elise was signed in. I bet you were wondering why Elise was making pop culture references from the mid-nineties . . .
I just found your blog!! I love the prom post!! I keep bugging Norm for pics...hope to get those SOON! you all are adorable and I LOVED that you found a prom dress to wear - you looked beautiful! It was so fun and I am so glad that you guys came!!! :)
Oh, Andrea, your description of your cheezy smile, raised eyebrows and elbows flailing about (with photo to match) makes me think we must be BLOOD relatives. It's the expression of "I'm trying....trying...trying to be cool - perhaps smiling and raising my eyebrows will help convince everyone!" You guys have FUN! I love your lives. xoxo Julie
You guys have MORE FUN!! I am enthralled with the whole idea of this post and so happy reading everything - what a cool idea!
