Finishing touches

It has been fun, now that the major unpacking is done, to add some of our decor to the house and really make it feel like home for us.

Our beachy decor in the living room

Our wall of family pics when you first come in.

I got to buy some new things to sit on the little
ledge in the foyer. That was fun. I still need one
more, but haven't found the right item yet.

What fun it is to decorate a new home - and also taxing on the brain to try to put everything in the right places and buy the perfect nick-nack, because if you're like me, you know that once it's there it's gonna stay there for the next decade. Your home looks soooo beautiful - we really can't wait to see it. We are on our way to Denver in the morning to see Amy and Dave and Jack - we're driving I-70 which is supposed to be a beautiful drive, so it's going to be a fun little vacation. We'll be back Tuesday night, and then we need to get with you and plan our next vacation - the beaches of NOrth Carolina!

Ooooh, I love ledgy knick knacks. (And assorted paddy wacks. And bones. Okay, so it's late.) Isn't it fun to make a house your own? I wanna come see it!!

I love your wall of family pictures. What a great idea! Especially the sign above them too.

Looks great! You've done a wonderful job! What about an artificial plant (because it looks like a hard place to try and water a real plant) in the corner to complete your ledge?! :)

Lookin' good!! Ditto on the potted plant for the ledge - or maybe a piece of pottery of some kind (a bowl or pot or something)?

Your house looks like a lot of fun - pretty wall color, too!

I like the beachy theme - I think I might do that in our new master bedroom and bathroom (having a few starfish here and there makes me feel better about not living in CA anymore!)

I also love decorating little ledgy places. That was my first splurge with the money I made tutoring and I went and spent it all at Hobby Lobby. Although I'm not a huge fake plant person, I do think they look good on up high ledges.

You could be featured in "House Beautiful" Thanks for sharing.

Of course you've heard the story about the frog who came into the loan office of a bank and wanted to borrow a large sum of money.
All he had for collatoral was a small object he carried in his hand.
Want to hear more?

I do (to "Grandpa in Sandy")!

OK, Anonymous.
But first, my editor advised me to correct my spelling; it's "collateral", not "collatoral".
So --A frog went into a bank and talked to a loan officer, whose name was Patty Black. He wanted to borrow a great deal of money. When Patty asked what he had for collateral, he showed her a tiny little object he held in his hand.
She said she didn't know what that was and she would have to have more to go on. The frog told her his father was Mick Jagger. She still wasn't convinced but said she would check with the bank manager.
So Patty went into the managers office and explained that a frog, claiming to be Mick Jagger's son, wanted to borrow money with only this small object as collateral.
"I don't even know what this is" she said. To which the bank manger replied ----ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?---

"That's a knick-knack, Patty Black, give the frog a loan; his old man's a Rolling Stone."

Hey, you asked for it.
