Good eye, Mate!

Well, we had our regular check up with Whitney's bo-eee-friend, Dr. Buckley, this week.

I have to tell you that girl is a model patient.
She sits calmly while being poked and prodded.
And somehow learned all her letters on her own,
which supposedly makes the testing more accurate.

It helps that this is a PEDIATRIC ophthalmologist's
office, so they have cool toys AND Cinderella on TV
to help keep her occupied.

Her favorite part?
Getting to see one of her FAVORITE
people on the planet, Dr. Buckley.
(I love that she's grabbing his tie in the pic!)

My favorite part? Finding out that we're done with dilating drops! Woo hoo! At least for the time being. I feel like W's vision is a mystery and that the doc's are playing a guessing game as far as what to do next. But, we don't have to patch or do dilating drops ALL SUMMER LONG. I am SO thrilled about that. We had to patch the last two summers and I always felt bad for W when she would get a tan line around her patches and have sweat running down them.

We go back in August and hope for the best. He mentioned that he might try glasses on her at that point if she has lost some of her vision.

You know, from all this talk about Dr. Buckley being Whit's boyfriend, I was expecting someone a little bit younger. I guess she just likes older men though! Good luck with that when she hits teenage years!

What great news, and a great picture of W and Dr. B.
Way out here in the west (but not as west as Oregon) we are excitedly awaiting the next big news from you North Carolinians.
Love to you all,
G&G Hiatt

Dr. Buckley looks like a friendlier version of the evil Phil Jackson to me! Could Whit's smile be any bigger in that picture? Adorable! So happy you get the summer off from patching - but don't lay off your artistic talents just because you don't have to draw cartoons on Whit's patches! I guess you're being creative to the max though with Carolina Rose and all!

Love,
Grandma Sweat

Well I'm glad that you got good news at the doctors, but it would be nice if they could be more definitive.

That guessing game stuff gets old.

Great news for Whit and Whit's Mom and Dad!

Whit has been such a little trooper through all of this. Never once has she complained about a patch or eye drops. I am so happy for her and thankful for the blessings we are seeing in her life.

Mom - Dr. Buckley does look like Phil Jackson! I had never seen it before. The main difference is that Buckley prefers the Motion offense instead of the Triangle.

PERFECT timing. One less thing for you to worry about over the summer. I'm all about that with a new baby on the way!

Looks like Whitney doesn't just like older men - she likes OLDER men. I remember having crushes on guys like that as a kid. Like the dad on Different Strokes. What in the world?!!?
