Mother's Day

I wish I could tell you I've been a blog-slacker because I've been in labor and then adjusting to being a mother of three. But that hasn't happened...yet. Give me a couple more weeks.

Here's how I'm looking at 37 weeks...

and here's how I'm feeling.
Darn abdominal muscles.
They're still killing me.
Other than that, I'm doin' fine.

Anyway, I had another fun Mother's Day yesterday. I was thinking about it and decided it is quite possible that Mom's Day is funner than your birthday as you get older. Usually you get something fun in the evening on your b'day, but I get spoiled all day on Mom's Day--breakfast in bed, Andrew cancels all extra church meetings, and makes dinner. Yes! What do the rest of you moms think?

I LOVE now that the kids are in school and can make gifts "on their own" or at least without help from Andrew or me. They did a great job.

Whit made this ADORABLE stepping stone
with her handprint in the middle.
But if you ask her, she insists it is called a mud pie.

Brandon's class invited all the moms to school in the
morning for "Breakfast Bites." And he wrote a little
biography about me. He was surprisingly accurate.
Even with the illustrations--love my wild, curly hair!

"Hi, B-train. That's my mom. My moms
favorite book is Enders Game. Her favorite TV show

is LOST. She is having a baby on May 27th. The baby's
name is Caroline. She enjoys reading. She helps me
and plays with me. I like going places with her. My

favorite place to go is Chuck E Cheese.
My mom is a stay at home. I love my mom."

How cute is that? I also love the picture
of me sitting on the couch with perfect posture,
holding the remote and apparently watching LOST.

He also made this book mark.
Very appropriate since I "enjoy reading". :)
That seemed like such a mature
phrase for him to use.

I am SO blessed to be a mom to these
two munchkins and can't wait to add Caroline
to my mothering resume.

Love the blog! I totally agree on Mother's Day being almost better than your birthday! Love the mudpie and that bookmark is priceless! Happy reading! Gigi

Are you sure that breakfast was just for you? I'm seriously hoping you shared! LOL! Looks like lots of fun... and I think I like Mother's Day better than my birthday too. :)

I want your breakfast, girl! My Mother's Day didn't start until church, since Jake DID have a few things to take care of before church...but after church I got dinner, all the dishes done, a kid-free nap, etc. I agree - its much easier to get your family to spoil you on Mother's Day than your birthday:)

Andrea, you look like a movie star in that last picture!

One of my favorite mother's day memories is from 25 years ago when I stayed in my peach-colored robe all morning and didn't have a care in the world except to hang out in the back yard in my robe and watch the kids play. I don't know why it seems so significant now, but I remember that day so fondly. I agree with you - mother's day can be better than birthdays! Some women don't like it because they feel unworthy or guilty, which then makes me feel guilty because I probably SHOULD feel guilty - so I'm joining your guilt-free, happy, happy mother's day club!
Love,
Your mother-in-law

I think you are right. Mothers day can be better than birthdays. I especially like it because it's always on Sunday and I know Mike never has to go to work that day.

By the way I don't think you are going to have much trouble being a mom of 3, you are awesome!

I love Mother's Day too - there's something sweet about it that's different than a birthday. Your breakfast in bed looks awesome! Yum!

Great pic of the three of you. (How come no pictures of what the kitchen looked like after breakfast in bed?)
Thanks for sharing.

You are looking great. I'm glad you're feeling pretty good for the most part. Me too.

I too LOVE the kids' gifts. SO cute. I will miss those someday (when they're not quite as cute).

You know, I never thought of it that way, but now that I do...you're right! Mother's Day is waaaaay better. We get spoiled all day, and we don't have to be reminded about how young we're not getting :)

You look fabulous! And, you are right about Mom Day being better than a b'day. I always feel slightly silly having people acknowledge me on my b'day, but with Mom Day, I'm like, "Heck, yeah. Let's talk about all I do for you and how great I am for doing it!" Or, we don't even have to talk about it, just let me sit here and read a book while you make dinner. That will do quite nicely, too. ;)
