Another sign of a growing girl

Do you notice anything different about my little sleeping angel?
Perhaps something that's missing?
Like the vertical bars of her crib?

Yes, friends, Caroline has made the leap to a big girl bed.

Just shy of her second birthday, she learned how to climb out of her crib.  We had two tear-filled nights where she wanted nothing to do with either the crib or the big girl bed.  But on night three, she embraced the concept of the bottom bunk.

That's all it took.  Two nights.

Amazing.

Now she goes right to bed on the bottom bunk.  She gets out a few times to push play on the CD player or grab a new book, but she doesn't leave her room and falls asleep on her own.  Yay!

And now we bid farewell to the crib.
It was a long-time friend.
Used almost every night for the past 8 1/2 years.
Now destined for yard sale heaven.

The crib toys look lonely.

Don't jinx yourself. Sold ALL our baby stuff at a yard sale...3 weeks later...found out I was pregnant (with Hannah). Just sayin' :)

Awesome! I'm so afraid to even attempt moving Brittain. She's climbed out of her crib twice but I think it scared her and she hasn't tried since. I hate the thought of her having total freedom at bedtime.
I think 2 nights sounds like a record! Nice!

WE! GOT! JINXED! Caroline had been sleeping well in her bed up through the night of this posting. This posting went up at around 10:30 p.m. last night...and then we ended up "helping" Caroline stay in her bed from 2:30 - 4:00 a.m. Yes, AM! I hope she goes back to sleeping like an angel in her big girl bed because I can't handle many more nights like last night. Now excuse me while I fall asleep while typing.....

She is getting to be such a big girl. And David is convinced you will have more kids and thinks you shouldn't get rid of the crib. He cites the fact that Andrew is a Bishop and he has never heard of a Mormon Bishop having only 3 kids.

While I recognize the point of this post is the milestone of moving to the big girl bed, I got stuck on the "just before her 2nd birthday"...She is almost 2 already!?

Well even if every night isn't smooth, it is still progress. Congrats!

I am so proud of Caroline for making the transition! Your kids are so energetic and mobile - all four of mine would have stayed in their cribs until they were 12 if we would have let them!
Sweet pictures of the sweet dreams and I like the little glimpse of Whitney zonked in the top bunk too!
