Grateful for Health Insurance

We could call this "Family Health Care Appreciation Week" around here. Three of us have been to the doctor. And none of us are sick. Andrew's back is really bothering him and he might take visit #4 if it's keeps hurting.

Tuesday--Whitney went back to the orthopedist to get her hard cast on. I think Dr. Buckley might have some competition on his hands, because Whit has developed a little crush on Dr. Norris, too. She was SOOOO excited to go see him and then when he came in the room, she clammed up and wouldn't say a thing. Already playing shy. What is it with this girl and her doctors???

We got a glimpse of her little arm before
we had to say goodbye to it for the next month.

She chose a pretty purple cast and she is thrilled with it.
She doesn't have to wear a sling anymore and is adapting
well to doing things one-handed.

She took her silver marker to preschool
today, so her little friends could sign it.
Pretty funny when preschoolers try to
sign a cast.

Wednesday--Brandon had his well child check-up. It's so nice to still have one child who is UNBREAKABLE.

He even had to get two shots and didn't
throw a fit about it. He took them like a
man and hardly even winced.
Way to go, B-train!

Thursday--I went in for an ultrasound and bloodwork.

I made it to the twelve week mark.
Yeah for the second trimester!
And am looking just a little bit pregnant,
ya think?

Here are the pics of our little peanut:
He or she was very laid back--would just
hang out with his/her legs crossed for a
while as the ultrasound tech got the
measurements she needed. Then
got the hiccups and was bouncing all over the place.
It always surprises me at this stage to see how
much they move around and that I can't feel a thing.

This one's a profile shot of the baby's face.
Then toward the end of the test, the baby started
sticking out it's tongue. The tech thought it was
so funny that she printed up a pic.

We got a couple of those 3D shots that they can
do now. This is the first child that I've had that
experience with. They're kind of creepy. The
baby looks slightly alien-ish. I think I'll keep
them to myself. :)

Other than visiting doctor's offices, I've been frantically trying to get the house ready to host six house guests for the next week. Fun stuff!

I love that purple color too. I am a little disappointed Whit didn't save any room on her cast for me to sign. Oh well. And yes you are looking pregnant and very glamorous! Can't wait to find out whether it's a boy or girl!

Dang! I wanted to see the alien shots! I think it's a boy, based upon the very mature-looking ultrasound. Really, can you believe how perfectly formed this baby is at only 12 weeks? Complete with leg-crossing and tongue-sticking out. He/she's going to be a character!!

Love Whit's purple cast - very pretty! Can you sign it for Grandma and Grandpa Sweat, or is that against cast-signing etiquette? Glad Brandon's still unbreakable. Hope Andrew's back starts feeling better- what did the doctor say? And hooray for houseguests, kind of - they give me the boost I need to dust and clean in the corners, and then I reap the rewards for the next 6 months or so!
Love to you all!

Love the purple cast! Probably won't show dirt as much as the traditional grey..I mean white...ones do, too!

Your ultrasound pictures are great! They're pretty clear for the baby being so little! My 3-D ones with the girls were creepy, but I had one with Josh that was INCREDIBLY life like - I mean, it looked like a real face. When he came out, we compared and it was pretty true to life. Which in and of itself is kind of creepy...since the picture was taken through several inches of skin, fat and who knows what else!

I'm glad you're in the "safety zone" for your pregnancy - that must be a huge relief!

I think the 3D ultrasounds are so cool! The one I had with Jack actually ended up looking like him. Dave and I both think the baby looks like a boy. Strong jaw line and sticking out the tongue...boy.

Cool ultrasound photos! He/she has a darling little profile. I think it's a girl. Don't know why; just do. Love Whitney's little cast. I love how she gets crushes on her docs.

We're with Denny; we think you're going to have a girl. If Grandma Sweat wants to make book on it, we'll give her 4 to 1 odds.

Dear great-grandpa Hiatt: I've only made book with you once regarding the sex of a baby - and that was 35 years ago when I was positive Angie was a boy. So, Andrea - you're definitely having a girl (and she does have a great jawline - way to go Gerber genes - and a sweat upper lip and a Hiatt tongue. Also, the shading in the tongue picture looks like she has a really thick shag haircut, don't you think?

The child shall be a girl. Her name shall be Jerusha Zariah Sweat.

Isn't Jerusha the name of Jared Hess's (Napoleon Dynamite) wife and co-writer? Well, then if she ends up cool enough to write a wicked funny screenplay, then Jerusha it is!!!

So fun to see the ultrasound shots and your pregger tummy. Fun times!!
