Bad luck?

Overall, I would say we are a very blessed family. But over the past few weeks, we've had bad luck when it comes to two things: broken bones and fireworks.

On the 4th of July, each of the kids got to light one sparkler before the torrential downpour ruined our fireworks display. In Utah, they celebrate Pioneer Day on July 24th, so we decided to light some fireworks last night. It went a lot better than the 4th, but it was windy and started raining at the end. I couldn't believe the timing. We've had beautiful evenings the whole time we've been here!

The night before we went to Salt Lake to spend some time with Andrew's family, our cousin Jane broke her arm. She fell off a slide. Poor little thing! Then on Saturday night, we had a little birthday party for Brandon and Carson who both have July birthdays. Carson got a little plastic sword and was walking around the backyard using it. He tripped and caught himself with only his left arm(not willing to let go of the new sword in his right!) and somehow managed to break both bones in his left arm. I felt SOOOO bad for him. I felt like maybe a little black broken-bone cloud was following us around. I was also grateful that Brandon was standing at the table with us or I know we would've blamed him somehow.

Let's hope the bad luck stays here as we start our road trip home today!

Hey Andi! I'm just glad that my own kids have come out of things relatively unscathed . . . although Jonas did wake up yesterday throwing up (but he made it to the toilet!!) and w/ a fever. He seems better today, so hopefully just a 24 hour thing. And I doubt it had anything to do with your visit :-)!!!

It looks like you guys are having a great time. Hope you have a safe trip back across the country! We'll be thinking of you. Oh, and we discovered an Elephant in Elise's room which the kids say is Brandon's. Sorry it's taken this long to discover it! We'll mail it back to you soon.

Love you,
Angie
