Andrew and Tony, brothers and friends
(What you can't see is that Tony's standing on his
tippy toes to be as tall as Andrew!)
Cindy and Tony at City Lake Park
Since we live so far away from our family and have a small house, it is not often that we have the opportunity to have house guests. We were SO thrilled to find out that Tony and Cindy would be coming to stay with us for a few days. It was kind of surreal when they rang the doorbell and walked in the door. I am so used to visiting them on their turf and it felt weird(but fun!) to have them on ours.
We have had a blast with them here! The funnest part for me has been just staying up late every night chatting away. I ended the conversation at 1 am on Thursday night abruptly by just saying, "I'm going to bed." Andrew was like, "You're supposed to wait until there's an awkward silence to say that." I said, "Well, the four of us talk too much and there hasn't been any awkward silence for the last hour!"
We've kept them busy, running them all over Greensboro. The highlights:

Thursday
Toured Blandwood Mansion, an historic governor's home
Went through Greensboro Historical Museum
Andrew and Tony went golfing and tied at 62 over 9 holes
(They'll probably die when they see I posted that score!)
Cindy and I took the kids hiking at the Piedmont Environmental Center
(We totally got lost. I thought we'd hike for 20 minutes and instead it took 45.
Whitney gave up on us and fell asleep in my arms.)
Friday
Visited Battle of Guilford Courthouse, a Revolutionary War site
Andrew, Tony, and Cindy went to the New Garden Friends cemetery
to look for Hiatt relatives. Found lots of Hiatts, but don't know the connections.
Got a babysitter so we could go out on a date.
Went to an improv comedy club. Show was cancelled for that day.
Got awesome cheesecake and the cutest shop downtown.
Decided to see movie instead. The showtimes we wanted were wrong in the paper.
We were feeling pretty much like losers at this point.
Went to see The Lakehouse.
Keanu Reeves will not be winning any Oscars for this one,
there was a particularly bad sneezing scene that made all
of us laugh out loud. However, I liked the movie overall.
Very clean and a cute chick flick.
Saturday
Went to City Lake Park and took a boat ride around the Lake.
It was a beautiful day and we all enjoyed it.
Right now the kids are napping and Andrew had a rehearsal
for the first wedding he'll perform tomorrow.
It is taking place at some beautiful gardens so he took Tony and Cindy along.
(It's the first chance I've had to blog since Tony and Cindy got here!)
Tonight a friend is watching our kids for us while we go out to dinner.

We have LOVED having Tony and Cindy here. If anyone else wants to come out and visit, we'd love to have you, too!

Andi -- This is my first time posting on your blog, but I read it regularly and love your stories and pictures. It sounds like you are having a blast with Tony and Cindy. It's so fun to stay caught up on your family's news.

I too love having friends visit for the late-night chatting!
hey andi! sounds like your having fun with tony and cindy! did they take their kids with them? and did you cut your hair? it looks different in the pics. ok well can't wait for you to come out here! ttyl!
Nope, Tony and Cindy left all four kids at home! It was the first time in 8 years that they've been away for kids that long.
And, no, I didn't cut my hair, either. In fact I need it cut, but don't think I'll have time before my road trip. Maybe I can talk Daneen into cutting it if we see her???
