Road Trip: NC to Louisville,KY

The road trip is off to a great start!  The seven hour drive from home to Louisville flew by.  The kids were great.  The weather was perfect.  I hope we have many more days like this.

Fun stop for the day:
Clay Center in Charleston, WV

This was our second time to visit this museum.  It was a good break, but not as fun as I remembered it being.

Gotta love the power of pulleys.

Relaxing with reptiles.

Random observations of the day:

Cities most likely to be the home of a superhero:  Max Meadows, VA and Nitro, WV

Cities I would not want to live in solely based on their names:  Bland, VA and Salt Lick, KY

Craziest sighting of the day:

I wish I would have had my camera handy when we passed a huge stretch limo mini van.  I've never seen anything like it.
It looked a lot like this one.  Tony and Cindy, is this what you were thinking of for your next vehicle?  :)

Caroline's silly sayings

Care Bear was cracking me up today.  We drove over a river and I pointed out the water.  She said, "Please drive in water?"  I told her that our van was not equipped for amphibious adventures.  "Please?"  Sorry, sweetheart.  We can't drive in the water.  She proceeded to break down crying because her mean mom refused to drive into the lake.

She also loves driving through tunnels.  And there are a couple of doozies in WV that go right through the middle of mountains.  She would get so excited as we drove through them and then when we got out she would ask, "Another tunnel?"  The first time she did this, I calmly told her that we might have to wait a while for the next tunnel.  I quickly learned that she was looking for a different answer by the screaming and kicking in the backseat.  After that, when she asked for another tunnel, I'd just tell her that we'd probably come to another tunnel in a while.  She'd just have to wait.  And then she'd forget what she was waiting for.  No tears involved.

Views through the windshield

One full day of driving down.  Eight more to go.
